Our Story
We should hold in high esteem professional competence, family and civic sense, and the virtues related to social behavior such as honesty, sense of justice, sincerity, courtesy, moral courage; without them there is no true Christian life.
We began in 2012 out of a desire to help men connect to their faith through work, be a hub connecting men to resources that encourage them do the right thing as a husbands, fathers, and business leaders, and finally to provide a place for the discussion of the relationship between faith and business for the larger business community.
Being in business is not easy. Achieving profitability, doing what is right and finding meaning are just a few of the challenges faced in today’s workforce. The Catholic Men’s Business Fraternity, open to all men, will teach you how integrating your faith and business can be accomplished in today’s society.
We are an Apostolate of the Catholic Church and a desirable, viable, and respected axis for fraternal bonding, spiritual & sacramental growth, and moral & ethical leadership formation.
We enhance the spiritual, human, intellectual, and leadership formation of business leaders for the integration of the wisdom and truth of the Catholic faith into work and daily life.
The Apostolate provides formation for Catholic men in business through the integration of the Gospel into the workplace and daily life along with programming for the larger business community through an annual Faith & Business conference.
The cross of St. James, also known as the Santiago cross, was used as the emblem for the twelfth-century Spanish military Order of Santiago, named after St. James the Greater. The order was founded in 1170 as an order of Augustinian priests to escort pilgrims to the shrine of St. James the Greater in Santiago of Compostella in Spain. Over the years the order was sent to multiple kings to be used as the ruler wished. In 1175, Pope Alexander III approved the Order of Santiago as a papal establishment. The Santiago knights were the first front-line against incursions from the Moors in the 13th century.
The extensive responsibilities of the Order included civil and criminal jurisdiction over the domains they guarded, has led some to refer to them as a “state within a state”. The grand masters of the Order were among the most powerful men in Portugal. The Order of Santiago also played a leading role in the early India expeditions. In 1910, when the Portuguese monarchy ended, the Republic of Portugal abolished the orders, but in 1917 the Order of Santiago was re-established as an Order of Merit to reward outstanding services to the state.
